Renewal, Layer by Layer

Chemical Peels at Manor

Over time, sun exposure and past breakouts can leave your complexion looking dull or uneven. Daily skin care can help, but it may not fully improve discoloration or rough texture once they become more established. A chemical peel lifts away damaged surface cells so fresh skin can come through. Some peels offer a light refresh, while others create more visible shedding and a longer recovery. Manor will look at your skin and choose the formula and strength that fit what you want to improve.

Working Beneath the Surface

What Is a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel uses an acid solution to loosen dead skin cells. As your skin heals, these cells shed, leaving a smoother surface and a brighter tone. The depth of the peel depends on the type and strength of the acid, the number of layers, and how long it stays on your skin.

Professional chemical peels are more effective than exfoliating products you use at home. They can smooth rough texture, clear pore buildup, and fade some discoloration. Some peels cause visible shedding, while others work with little or no flaking.

Depth Defines the Experience

What Are the Different Types of Chemical Peels?

Chemical peels come in three levels. Each level treats different concerns and needs a different recovery time.

  • Light or superficial peels: These treat the outer layer. They may use glycolic acid, an alpha hydroxy acid, or salicylic acid. A light chemical peel can help with dullness, oily skin, mild acne, fine lines, and rough texture. Recovery ranges from a few hours to several days.
  • Medium peels: These reach part of the upper dermis. A medium chemical peel may use trichloroacetic acid, or TCA, for stubborn pigmentation, acne marks, sun damage, and wrinkles. Recovery can take seven to 14 days.
  • Deep peels: These may use phenol or a strong TCA solution for deep wrinkles and significant sun damage. They carry more risk and need physician-directed care. Deep peels are not offered at Manor.

A stronger peel isn’t always better. We aim for enough exfoliation to make a difference without causing more irritation than your skin can handle.

Two Paths to Fresh Skin

Which Chemical Peels Does Manor Offer?

Manor offers VI Peel and ZO Stimulator Peel. The best option depends on how much correction you want and how much visible peeling you are comfortable with.

VI Peel

VI Peel is the more intensive option. It can help with uneven pigmentation, acne concerns, sun damage, fine lines, and texture issues. We’ll select the right formula based on your skin and goals. Most people experience three to seven days of dryness and visible peeling. This treatment is a good choice if you want more correction and can plan for the recovery time.

ZO Stimulator Peel

The ZO Stimulator Peel is a light surface peel. It refreshes tired skin, smooths texture, and can help congested pores look cleaner. It’s also a good option before an event when you want brighter skin without visible peeling. You may have mild pinkness after treatment, but most people have little to no downtime.

The Right Peel for the Right Concern

What Skin Concerns Can Chemical Peels Address?

Chemical peels work well for concerns caused by dead skin, blocked pores, excess pigment, and uneven cell turnover. They may improve acne-prone skin, post-acne marks, fine lines, sun spots, rough texture, and a dull complexion.

Salicylic acid can help oily or congested skin because it works inside the pores. Glycolic acid works on the surface to help with mild breakouts, fine lines, and uneven tone. The depth of the peel and how long it stays on your skin are still important.

Peels can be part of a plan for melasma, but the pigment may return with heat, hormones, irritation, or new sun exposure. Sun protection and home care remain important.

Chemical peels are less helpful for deep acne scars, sagging skin, or deep wrinkles. For those concerns, we may recommend microneedling, RF microneedling, or laser treatment.

Clarity Revealed Through Renewa

What Are the Benefits of Chemical Peels?

Depending on the peel chosen, treatment may:

  • Remove dead skin cells and surface buildup
  • Smooth rough or uneven texture
  • Brighten dull or lifeless skin
  • Improve uneven pigmentation
  • Soften fine lines and wrinkles
  • Reduce visible sun damage
  • Clear clogged pores
  • Improve some shallow acne marks
  • Make pores look less noticeable
  • Refresh mature skin without surgery
  • Support a more radiant complexion
  • Fit into a larger skin-rejuvenation plan

A light peel gives your skin a quick refresh. A stronger peel can create bigger changes but requires more preparation and aftercare.

A Treatment Measured in Layers

What Can I Expect During a Chemical Peel at Manor?

We begin by checking your skin and asking about your current products, medications, and recent treatments. We also ask how much peeling you are comfortable with. This helps us choose the right solution and treatment depth for you.

After your skin is cleaned, your provider applies the peel in controlled layers. You may feel warmth, tingling, or stinging. The entire appointment usually takes about 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the peel.

Some peels are removed or neutralized in the office. Others stay on your skin for a set time and are washed off at home. We’ll give you clear instructions before you leave.

Preparation Protects the Outcome

How Should I Prepare for a Chemical Peel?

We may ask you to stop using retinoids, exfoliating acids, scrubs, benzoyl peroxide, or other strong products before your appointment. How long you need to stop depends on what you use and how sensitive your skin is.

Avoid tanning and direct sun during the week before your treatment. Let us know if you use isotretinoin, have allergies, get cold sores, or have any healing problems. If you have a history of herpes outbreaks, you may need antiviral medication.

Recent waxing, lasers, microneedling, injectables, or another peel can affect scheduling. Tell us if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Treatment must wait if your skin is sunburned, broken, infected, or very irritated.

Healing Looks Different for Everyone

What Is Chemical Peel Recovery Like?

Recovery depends on the type of peel. After a ZO Stimulator Peel, you may have mild pinkness or sensitivity. Visible flaking is rare, and most people can return to their usual activities right after treatment.

VI Peel has a more noticeable recovery. Your skin may feel tight or look darker before it starts to peel. Peeling usually lasts three to seven days and is often finished by day seven for most people.

Let your skin shed naturally. Pulling off loose pieces can cause irritation, infection, scars, or dark spots. The amount of peeling varies, and more peeling does not mean better results.

Fresh Skin Under Desert Sun

How Should I Care for My Skin After a Chemical Peel in Phoenix?

Phoenix has strong sun and very dry air, so aftercare is especially important. Wash with a gentle cleanser, pat your skin dry, and use the moisturizer or healing product we recommend. Wait to restart retinoids, acids, scrubs, and other strong products until we say it is safe.

Wear broad-spectrum sunscreen every day and reapply it when you are outside. Wearing a hat and staying in the shade also help. Freshly peeled skin is more likely to get sun damage and new pigmentation, especially while healing.

Avoid pools, hot tubs, saunas, and intense outdoor workouts for as long as your provider recommends. Plan desert hikes, pool days, and long outdoor events for after your skin has healed. Call us if redness, swelling, pain, or blistering gets worse instead of better.

Progress You Can See

When Will I See Results From a Chemical Peel?

The ZO Stimulator Peel can make your skin look brighter and feel smoother soon after treatment. With VI Peel, you will notice fresher skin once the peeling stage is over, usually around seven days for most people.

One treatment may be enough if you just want an occasional refresh. Uneven pigmentation, acne marks, and ongoing texture issues may need a series of treatments. Your results will also depend on sunscreen, home care, new breakouts, hormones, and future sun exposure.

Some people schedule light chemical peels for regular maintenance. We may recommend one to three VI Peels a year, depending on the formula and your goals. We can also plan your peel around facials, injectables, microneedling, and laser treatments.

Every Skin Tone Deserves Precision

Are Chemical Peels Safe for Darker Skin Tones?

Chemical peels can be safe for many skin types, including darker skin tones. The formula and depth must be chosen carefully because melanin-rich skin has a higher risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation after irritation.

A lighter superficial peel may be a good starting point for sensitive or pigment-prone skin. We’ll consider your skin tone, current inflammation, past reactions, and treatment history before making a recommendation. We may also suggest skincare to use before treatment to help prepare your skin.

The Right Treatment at the Right Time

Am I a Good Candidate for a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel may be a good option if you want to improve dullness, mild acne, uneven pigmentation, post-blemish marks, fine lines, or rough texture. Your skin needs to be healthy enough to heal after treatment.

We may need to wait if you have an active infection, open wound, sunburn, cold sore, severe irritation, or have recently had an aggressive skin treatment. Let us know if you have keloid scars, use isotretinoin, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or have any condition that affects healing. If you cannot avoid the sun during recovery, we may suggest a different date or a lighter treatment.

Similar Goals, Different Techniques

Chemical Peels vs. HydraFacial, DiamondGlow, and Microneedling

Chemical peels use an acid solution to treat pigmentation, acne, fine lines, and sun damage. HydraFacial focuses on cleansing and hydration, while DiamondGlow uses a diamond tip for pore extraction and serum infusion. Both usually require less recovery than a stronger peel.

Microneedling works below the surface to support collagen production. It’s better for stubborn post-acne scars and deeper texture issues. Some people use these treatments at different times as part of one plan.

Professional Care Is Part of the Peel

Why Should Chemical Peels Be Professionally Supervised?

The type of acid, its strength, the number of layers, and how long it stays on your skin all affect how deep a peel goes. Using the wrong product or leaving it on too long can cause burns, infection, scars, and lasting pigment changes.

The FDA warns against using high-strength chemical peel products without professional supervision. A trained provider can examine your skin, choose the right formula, monitor your skin’s response, and give you clear instructions for healing.

Chemical Peels Frequently Asked Questions

You may feel warmth, tingling, or stinging while the solution is on your skin. The sensation depends on the type of peel. Let your provider know if anything feels too intense.

No. The ZO Stimulator Peel causes little or no visible flaking for most people. VI Peel is more likely to cause several days of peeling. Not seeing visible flakes does not mean the peel did not work.

A peel may help with shallow acne marks, discoloration, and mild surface irregularities. Deep or indented acne scars usually need microneedling, RF microneedling, laser treatment, or a combination of treatments.

The right peel may help improve melasma, but it cannot prevent the pigment from coming back. Sun, heat, hormones, and irritation can trigger it again. Daily sunscreen and home care are important parts of your plan.

Yes, as long as you can avoid direct sun and follow the aftercare plan. We may suggest a lighter peel or a different date if you have outdoor plans during recovery.

The cost depends on the type of peel and how many treatments you need. We’ll give you current pricing before your treatment.
